Did you know that one in five children go without dental care?

How about the fact that between ages 2 and 5, half of children have not seen a dentist? It doesn’t stop there.
Almost 25% of children between 2 and 11 have never been to a dentist—yet more than 40% of children have a cavity by the time they reach kindergarten.
Children from impoverished families have a much higher rate of tooth decay because of limited or no access to oral health care. The problem goes well beyond these little mouths. It also puts them at significant risk for impaired cognitive and social development, creates educational disparities and creates a path for a lifetime of embarrassment associated with dental disease. We can do better to deliver the life-changing care these children deserve.

On May 5th, 2018, select Refresh Dental offices will host Smile with a Heart, an event dedicated to reducing oral health disparities by providing no-cost dental care to children in need.  This day is more than just a simple office visit. By addressing their dental health now, we can help them establish a relationship with a dental care team and potentially avoid a lifetime of poor oral health. An early start with regular dental care will also lead to more healthy behaviors as they age. We want to see the children in our communities grow into healthy adults.
